4 things to do in lockdown on Sydney’s Northern Beaches

September 7, 2021 – 2 minute read – by Annabel Pease

At best, there are another four weeks to go of Sydney’s lockdown. I am sure you are feeling as antsy as I am. As the majority of us are working from home, and all our leisure time is spent at home, it can be extremely easy to run out of ways to stay entertained and motivated.

I would like to share with you, Property Providers’ top 4 things to keep you occupied, whilst safely supporting local Northern Beaches businesses in the process.

1. Baking

Did you go through the banana bread baking phase in the first lockdown?

Well, Butter Boy in Manly is the new hype and has you covered. I mean, who can say “No” to a Golden Daytime brownie sandwich?

You can also bake your own, with the do-it-yourself option, which includes, buying the cookie dough and baking at home.  Yum!

2. Order a Mexican Feast

How many of you can admit you have been surviving lockdown with a ridiculous amount of takeaway?

Chica Bonita (which means “pretty girl” in Spanish) is one of Manly’s best-known and loved restaurants.

During lockdown they are offering takeaway versions of the diner’s best-loved dishes, including guacamole with blue corn totopos (tortilla chips) and fries with steak, guacamole, and cheese.

They are also offering take away margaritas in cans and DIY taco kits, providing variety for those wanting to do it themselves at home.

Knowing I can have a delicious meal in the comfort of my own home is getting me through. This brings me a glimmer of joy each week.

3. Train Outdoors

Do you miss the gym? Need to work off the cookies and margaritas? If the answer is yes, then I have a way to get back into a regular workout routine.

Jtrainoutdoor is operating from Nolan’s Reserve in Manly Vale, with personal trainers and an outdoor gym during lockdown.

They are operating out of their trailer that holds over 300kg in weights, with a variety of sandbags, plates, dumbbells, medicine balls, barbells, boxing equipment and even a keg.  This allows Jtrainoutdoor to prioritize excellence and guarantee results, even during Sydney’s current lockdown.

Jtrainoutdoor are committed to helping build healthy habits.  An example of this is the 21 Day Development program, which helps members build a habit that they do not currently possess. This could be anything from, stretching every day, cutting out processed sugar or doing 30 minutes of exercise every day.

4. Learn a New Skill – Clay Making

If you didn’t manage to master your sourdough baking skills during the last lockdown, now’s the chance to give learning a new skill another last-minute whirl. Clay Sydney is taking one of its most popular hand-building classes – its Wine and Clay Nights – online.

Clay Sydney will take you through the process of making a mug, a planter, a vase, or whatever else you feel like creating.

All you need to do is buy one of their Clay at Home Kits online; they come in three sizes, each tailored to the size and type of project. Each kit includes clay, tools, and cheat sheets.
